8 Hazards in Steel Billet Continuous Casting of the High/Low Molten Steel Temperature

During the production process of steel billet continuous casting, the temperature of precisely controlling steel water has an extremely important role in the quality of the billet and the stability of the entire production line. However, there are always some reasons for the temperature of the steel water. So, during the production process of billet connection, what harm will the temperature of the steel or too low be high or too low? How should we accurately control the temperature of steel water? Today, Luoyang Giant Power will answer these questions for everyone.

The Harm of High Molten Steel Temperature in the Steel Billet Continuous Casting

What Is High-Temperature Molten Steel?

The high-temperature steel we often say is very vague. Different people have different understandings of high-temperature steel. Some people think that 1,680°C or 1,690°C, or even 1,700°C are high-temperature steel.

Steel water temperature is part of the process control and serves the production. It has different requirements for the temperature of the steel water at different stages of the process. Therefore, the above limitations of the process temperature requirements can be called high-temperature steel. For example, to improve the efficiency of de-phosphorus in the early stage of the turning furnace smelting, the temperature requirements of the inverted furnace are controlled at 1,610 ~ 1,640°C. More than 10C, it is also high-temperature steel; when the casting machine is poured, it is generally measured by the high-temperature steel with the heat of the middle bag.

The Effect of High-Temperature Molten Steel on the Billet

  1. When the crystal is produced, the blank shell is too thin and it is easy to leak steel;
  2. Easy to increase non-metal, which affects the quality of the billet;
  3. The erosion of steel water on the refractory material is accelerated, which can easily lead to the reduction of cast flow out of control and reduce the safety of casting;
  4. Covered chilled crystals;
  5. The central analysis is serious.

The Effect of High-Temperature Steel Water on the Rotary Furnace

High-temperature steel water has a large erosion on the furnace, and after pulling it, it will blow over severe liquid steel. After a few pieces of furnace steel, the furnace supplementation layer or slag splash layer will be exhausted. It will improve the frequency of the furnace and slag, increase the refractory material consumption of the furnace, and the labor intensity of employees.

The Harm of Low Molten Steel Temperature in the Steel Billet Continuous Casting

Excessive steel temperature is easy to cause high steel consumption, high cost, no guarantee of steel water quality, decreased age and endangering serious consequences of safety production.

  1. It is easy to occur in the water inlet, which causes the casting to be interrupted;
  2. The surface of the cast blank is prone to cracks and other similar defects;
  3. Non-metal slag is not easy to float, affecting the quality of the billet.

In the production of steel billet continuous casting, too high or too low steel temperature will cause problems with the quality of the billet, and even affect the efficiency of the entire production line. Therefore, we must strictly control the temperature of steel water to ensure normal production.
